In just a few short weeks, the Caritas OB/GYN practice in Suite 360 of the Guild Medical Building in Norwood was visually transformed with a very up-to-date styling. The office is headed by Nakhle A Tarazi, MD, part of the Caritas Christi Healthcare System which also owns Caritas Norwood Hospital in this suburb of Boston. The growing practice also includes Mark J. Simonelli, MD and nurse practitioner Tina M. Rose. A third physician, Monica McKinnon, MD, is joining the practice.
Dr. Tarazi’s practice is one of the first in the former Junior High School turned medical office building to undergo a complete redesign at the hand of By Design.
By Design regularly is called on to update offices, and add their special touch with their detailed understanding and apperception for the needs of medical offices. They routinely turn design obstacles into triumphs.
Almost all the offices in the Guild Building are long, narrow spaces, with long hallways going down the middle. A key consideration is keeping patient flow smooth and easy.
Dr. Tarazi’s office is almost 2,000 square feet with a large waiting room, six exam rooms, a front office and three doctor’s offices. By Design enlarged one of the exam rooms into a state-of-the-art ultrasound room by breaking through and using a closet. A replacement closet was made out of space off the hallway.
The waiting room got the most aesthetic improvements. A half wall was taken down and new recessed lighting was added strategically to make the room bigger and brighter.
All the carpets throughout the office were replaced. Walls got fresh colors and accent borders, plus window treatments were replaced.
It’s almost impossible for a medical practice to shut down for construction. As with most By Design projects it was vital to work around the office’s schedule – including working at night and on weekends. The office was closed only for a day and a half.
“Watching the transformation was exciting. By Design came up with some excellent ideas and suggestions to get us the space we needed. They kept the project right on track – both on time and on budget. We saw significant progress each day.” -- Nakhle A. Tarazi, MD, Caritas OB/GYN of Norwood & Foxborough
